A lovely Swedish home

I was really ínspired when I saw these breakfast pictures at the blog Så fint jag vill the other day. I almost made up my mind now that I need this beautiful carafe as well (have dreamed of it for a long time). For colourful breakfast juice, flowers and as decoration. As a small substitute for the Dagg vase that I see no legitimate reason for buying right now (I already have plenty of vases). I like the feeling in these pictures. No premeditated styling, just with an easy sense of artistic touch when putting things down, that just goes right. Vintage, new, colours, details...

A few days later I noticed that Kristin and Johanna had again been on a beautiful home visit, this time to this very same home above by Så fint jag vill. You can view more delicate pictures and seek inspiration from the personal and cosy home by Nanna van Berlekom in the interview here. And I, who have not been into the bistro chairs earlier, have changed my mind! In the correct spot they are suddenly just awesome!

Happy Sunday! I hope the sun shine on you today!

August mood board

Hey hello, today there is finally time for a small mood board of products for August. I am slightly getting some autumn feelings. A lot of new things are popping up in the stores after the summer. Here come a few picks!

Stelton | Autumn news 2015

Stelton has filled its webshop with new beautiful products for autumn 2015. Let's have a look!

The designer duo Bernadotte & Kylberg, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Oscar Kylberg, are back with a new collection of aluminium vases and bowls called Stockholm Horizon, inspried by the reflections on the water. The pattern is abstract and in blue and green shades.

Søren Refsgaard has designed an adorable black candleholder with four arms called Naked. I would love to have it all the year round but also especially during Christmas time. Suitable for lighting one candle each Advent. The candleholder has been inspired by the naked trees in winter. Isn't it interesting that nature is still the inexhaustible, never-ending inspiration source when it comes to design? I will start looking as well. ;) The silhouette of this candleholder casts long shadows on the table, exactly as in the woods.

Apart frome these ones, the assortment has also been increased with the Reflection candleholders (Halskov & Dalsgaard), the One candleholders in four colours (Søren Refsgaard), an electric kettle and new plates in the multiply awarded Emma collection (Holmbäck Nordentoft), a vacuum jug, creamer and sugar bowl (Erik Magnussen) and a coffee maker for slow-brewed aromatic coffee (Francis Cayouette).

Kähler | Autumn news 2015

Beautiful autumn and winter news by Danish Kähler. Round, stylish vases and candlesticks with a simple expression, newcomers to the ceramic city of lights and striped Christmas decorations. I picked out my favourites but you can see more new products here.

New trend | Colouring books for adults

I was really inspired when I read about colouring books for adults in my local newspaper! This seems to be a real craze and new phenomenon, which has hit the world. In USA the national colouring book day (!) was celebrated on 2nd August, for the first time ever. Even in France the Parisian elite is said to be colouring in the cafés of the capital.

The popular trend is said to cure stress, be permissive, portable, uncomplicated, nostalgic and a counterbalance to the digital world around us. For once, no screen is involved. When colouring, it does not need to get ready or good, it is the cooperation between eye and hand and the concentration on colours that is soothing and relaxing. At the same time you must be creative and decisive about which colours to choose next.

One of the most popular illustrators right now is Johanna Basford from Scotland. Her first colouring book "The Secret Garden" has sold more than 2 million copies. A coloruing book with black and white pages of flowers, leaves, trees and birds. The art in the book is super intricate and for adults.

Colouring books for adults have for a longer time been topping or taken up nearly half of the well-known bestseller lists. Interesting, isn't it? I am curious to test this out. If some leaf becomes really nice, you could probably also tear it out and frame it...

Have you heard of and tried this trend yet? If so, do you like it? I will try to get hold of Johanna's books, but seems that "Secret Garden" is sold out here right now. In October her next book appears, "The Lost Ocean". It is also said that another colouring book is appearing in October by George RR Martin, with pictures inspired from the TV-series Game of Thrones.

Johanna Basford quotations in The Guardian:

"I'm a grown-up but I still like colouring books."

“I think it is really relaxing, to do something analogue, to unplug. And it’s creative. For many people a blank sheet is very daunting - with a colouring book you just need to bring the colour.”

Pictures of amazing artwork can be found all over Instagram. People are proud to show their masterpieces.

"I reckon people are taking their kids’ pictures off the fridge and replacing them with their own.”

Seems to be worth trying. Will you?

Beautiful garden

I have seldom showed something from my neighbourhood for you, but yesterday I took a few pictures with my mobile only, when going through this park near my home (some might be a bit awry as I could harldy see the screen in the sunlight). The beautiful garden lies just one block away. It is a real oasis and place for resting your mind. Have you seen the funny knitted and crocheted decorations they have put in the trees? :) The very last picture is from spring, all the rest are taken yesteday, but I wanted to share them all with you. Hope you like them!

Outdoors

I know it is quite late for outdoor inspiration, but here we go. I was kind of uninspired this summer with my balcony due to the bad weather (the summer, which never came), but this is my mental inspiration picture, which I have had in my head...

Old and new goodies from House of Rym

I stumbled upon such beautiful pictures of old and new goodies from House of Rym that I just had to share them with you. I like the graphic and playful pattern on the products and the cosy, clever and colourful styling! I also like the idea to mismatch (in a beautiful way) the cups and plates with different patterns. The breakfast pictures are my favourites!

Some summer days (and long breakfasts) still to go... Enjoy them!
