From coffee roastery to apartment

I am hooked on picture walls for the time being and there for these pictures struck my fancy. Somehow exactly what I like. A mixed picture wall, String shelf in walnut for small details, a broad dinner table with design chairs all the way around. Saved to my mental inspiration box!

 

This apartment in Malmö belongs to the Swedish interior stylist Isabell Andén and her partner Joakim Pettersson. It was formerly a coffee roastery but has now been changed to an apartment. A lovely Swedish home

I was really ínspired when I saw these breakfast pictures at the blog Så fint jag vill the other day. I almost made up my mind now that I need this beautiful carafe as well (have dreamed of it for a long time). For colourful breakfast juice, flowers and as decoration. As a small substitute for the Dagg vase that I see no legitimate reason for buying right now (I already have plenty of vases). I like the feeling in these pictures. No premeditated styling, just with an easy sense of artistic touch when putting things down, that just goes right. Vintage, new, colours, details...

A few days later I noticed that Kristin and Johanna had again been on a beautiful home visit, this time to this very same home above by Så fint jag vill. And I, who have not been into the bistro chairs earlier, have changed my mind! In the correct spot they are suddenly just awesome!

Lagerhaus sends to Scandinavian customers

 

The Swedish company Lagerhaus is expanding in Scandinavia. A new store opened on 2nd May in Oslo and at the same time Lagerhaus launched a new version of the webshop where delieveries to Finland, Norway and Denmark now are possible. Good news for all outside Sweden!

Welcome spring!

 

I recently got the opportunity to do a table setting with the newcomers in Arabia's KoKo series. The new colours of the cups, bowls and plates this spring are beautifully yellow and green and are suitably called Sahrami (saffron) and Niitty (meadow). I immediately came to think of spring and nature and wanted to bring this feeling inside, as we still have to wait a while for the real spring.

I mixed Arabia's KoKo series with a collection of Iittala products and also my own tableware by Iittala. The good thing with these brands is that everything matches! KoKo is plain and of one single colour, which makes it easy to mix with other series. Just according to your mood.

After using these I was at least very willing to adopt some more accent colours after this black, dark and semi-cold winter. And do you see? The sun beams are finally finding their way inside my home again!

  

KoKo is turning 10 this year. Happy birthday KoKo!

Spring in the air by Fiskars and Iittala

 

 

Last week I got a happy surprise gift behind the door. I usually know what I get for Christmas and birthdays (due to my never-ending wish list) so this was a surprise in its real sense and I was really eager when opening it. It cheered up my day just at the right moment! Thank you Fiskars and Iittala for the nice and kind gift! Maybe there is an app or something scanning my cupboard for this was exactly what I needed! When I made lunch yesterday I took some photos of my new kitchenware. The salad making went a lot smoother than before with the Functional form salad spinner from Fiskars. You can easily get rid of all extra water from lettuce leaves by spinning them around in the bowl. It was also much easier to rinse, keep and dry the vegetables in the strainer than with them lying all around your kitchen during your cooking. Then they dried in there until I was ready to use or chop up them and could just pour away all collected water. Maybe you have this from before; I for some reason did not have it. The kitchen towels from Iittala are also new beautiful spring news in the Origo series.

KitchenAid | A new friend

Let me introduce my new kitchen love - a white KitchenAid! I am so happy about it because I have dreamed of this for such a long time already!

 

Of course I wanted  to test it out immediately upon arrival, and thought for a while what to bake. I decided to go for Leila's blueberry buns, as her recipes never disappoint you. And I can honestly tell, it was a real pleasure to use my KitchenAid. Those were the days when I got stuck with my hands in the dough and could not pour more flour without messing up the whole kitchen. Everything neatly inside the shiny bowl now and I did not have to do anything at all! Just add the ingredients, listen to the baking sound and do the dishes alongside of this. Multitasking in a nutshell. It felt so luxuriously and was so easy-peasy so I will definitely become a baking pro now! I just had to pour a little more flour once in a while and then the dough took care of itself and was soon ready to mould into buns.

 

Of course I also like that the stand mixer is a real beauty in itself and can stand all year round just looking good on the worktop. I think it is one of the most popular American interior details that have gained ground in the Scandinavian design homes.

 

KitchenAid is available in a variety of colours (see all alternatives here) and is a stand mixer of high quality. It was brought on the market already in 1919.

The stand mixer has been rewarded with a lot of design prizes and is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco. And, not the least, in my home!
