Sober minimalism

I have waited for these pictures to come online since I saw them in the Danish magazine Bo Bedre recently. I could even claim that this must be the most inspiring home I have seen this year. I love all the handpicked design in it, the clean look and cosy atmosphere with elements from nature. It feels like a real showroom (in a good way) with thousands of beautiful products designed by Norm Architects and I must admit I had a crush on many of them due to this article. The little Milk lamp with black legs I already own, but other details qualified for my never-ending wish list.

The home belongs to the Architect and Co-Owner of Norm Architects, Jonas Bjerre Poulsen, his wife Christine and their two children. All nice magazine magazine pictures were not availble online but I hope you got a glimpse and some inspiration, too!

Sunday mood

 

Hello from my Sunday corner. Here's a glimpse of my new blue and yellow Svenskt Tenn cushion bringing me a happy mood. I love the pattern and it is also quite unusual and not seen everywhere.
 

I ordered this book by Leila Lindholm recently, "Sweet Christmas", and was not disappointed. I love the recipes by Leila because you can be sure that everything is good. I hope to have some time to test something well in time before the Christmas rush.

 

I have renewed this library book four times now...Longing for a slow day....😊

Marimekko spring summer 2017

 

  

I know it is soon Christmas, the first snow came yesterday and I should be blogging about Christmas stuff, candelabras and assorted chocolates, but then I saw Marimekko's spring summer news for 2017 and I just had to show you. I  also know that Marimekko recently showed their Christmas press pictures in red, but I am not so much into red Christmases, more neutral ones, so let's take a jump one season ahead for a while. I think the spring summer collection is so delightful with all the green shades of the vases by Carina Seth Andersson. Some new black and white tableware in the Oiva series is also coming. Enjoy!

I think Marimekko has experienced an upswing in interesting collaborations lately. Next year it is rumoured that Liselotte Watkins will be doing a fabric pattern for Marimekko!

Objects by Fritz Hansen

 

I find it so interesting that Fritz Hansen has widened its furniture collections with a new line of small accessories and interior objects to reach a greater target group. The Objects collection, as it is called, was launched in spring this year and is now getting new objects for the autumn season. This time with collaborations together with Cecilie Manz and the Danish design company Aiayu. Cecilie Manz has designed a collection consisting of a bowl, candlestick, vases and poufs, Aiayu the cushions in linen and wool. In the press pictures you can also catch a glimpse of Jaime Hayons objects from the spring collection; the candleholders in brass and the vase with ready-made holes for the flower stalks. The bigger vase has now gotten company of a new smaller one.

Which objects are my favourites? I think a combination of objects from the spring and autumn collections appeals to me most. The beautiful floor poufs, neutral stoneware and candleholders in brass! Autumn love!

Muuto news AW16

 

The Danish company Muuto has recently launched some new adorable autumn news. What's not to love about this white candelabra designed by Jens Fager? I feel I am getting overwhelmed with all cool new candelabras and candleholders that are always released with every season change. It must be the perfect item to design, because no matter how many I have I always find a room in my heart for more... a physical room is always a bit trickier. I seem to be a real candelabra freak. This candelabra called Open is also available in black, dark green and light terracotta!

What I also have thought of is buying some small Dots to hang clothes and bags on. The wooden collection has now gotten company of metal hooks in aluminium, black and brass. All designed by Lars Tornøe.

The Compile shelving system is designed by Cecilie Manz and is a modern variant of the classic warehouse shelves. Perfect for displaying your candelabras! :)

IKEA + HAY + Tom Dixon

The collaborations rains at IKEA. In the wake of the latest success with Ilse Crawford and Ingegerd Råman, the store now reveals its next collaborations and the interior world holds its breath. This time IKEA collaborates with Danish Hay and British Tom Dixon! Hay and Tom Dixon are two of my favourite design stores so I am eager to see what is to come. I anticipate success.

As IKEA's Design Manager Marcus Engman said to Dezeen earlier this year, the store is using the design collaborations to overcome its reputation for just doing "cheap stuff". And I think they are definitely on the right path. All eyes are turned to them frequently as the design collaborations succeed each other in a rapid pace.

I am waiting for more fancy product pictures and that is one thing I feel is lacking in this sensation now but I am sure they will come. All is quite secret still. You can see some of the revealed product pictures over here. The products of the Ikea & Hay collaboration come into stores during 2017, whereas the Ikea & Tom Dixon collaboration is launched in 2018.

Scandinavian Designers II by Boråstapeter - A sneak peek!

 

For some time ago I received a stunning huge sample of Boråstapeter's new wallpaper collection that is being launched on 15th June. It is called Scandinavian Designers II and is full of breathtaking patterns! I just love the designers that are included in this collection and could not be happier to have these sample pieces of my own! I guess you will see examples of these patterns every now and then ahead, as I cannot resist moving the sheets around in my home, fastening them on my walls, framing them or just elegantly piling them here and there on some table or in a corner. I am fond of patterns and design and these by iconic Scandinavian designers are just my favourites right now. I think they will be a hit for wallpaper seekers during summer 2016 and I can imagine how well the summery, flowery patterns would look e.g. in a summer residence.

 

If you like me recently have painted all walls white and there is no particular wall available to change, I suggest you do like me. Just frame a smaller piece of the wallpaper and voilà, you have a lot of new picture frames cheering up your walls! I think it is a real design treasure to have any of these patterns, as these are rare and some of them have been created as early as in the 1940s!

 

The designers are Stig Lindberg, Lisbet and Gocken Jobs, Viola Gråsten and Arne Jacobsen! Stig Lindberg would have turned 100 years this year and his pattern Berså, which was originally featured on coffee cups and other items is now also available as wallpaper. 

 

The collections consists of 14 patterns in several colour variants. I think it is splendid that old design patterns are taken into use in new areas and in that way let us of newer generations take part of the wonderful art that existed during times gone by. Sometimes I feel that the illustrations and patterns in the 1950s were so much nicer than the new ones are today.
