Dear things with a story | Town house in Copenhagen

Via Pella I first saw the green beautiful kitchen alà Kinfolk style and wanted to know more. It turned out to originate from a Copenhagen-based town house on a cobbled street in the Frederiksstaden district. The inhabitant of the house is Marie Worsaae, a partner at Aiayu, a Danish lifestyle brand focusing on sustainability.

The rest of the house seems equally cosy and full of, as Marie herself says, dear things with a little story. She doesn't want to live in a museum and mixes dear things that matters with classic furniture and great designs of high quality. All things are there to be lived in and used.

"I think usage is actually where things come alive. Using things doesn’t mean I don’t care for them though - really, it means the opposite.” / Marie

She seems like a clever person Marie. A revolt against those saving their best porcelain for the best days to come, who do not see the beauty in laundry and always stress in the mornings. Let's learn!

"So doing the coffee, I try and do it with care, and slowly. I don’t always have the time, but when I do, it unwinds me. Making dinner unwinds me too; in the kitchen, listening to the radio, that’s something that I love. I actually love to do my laundry as well, and hand writing letters. All those things relax me.” / Marie

Faves of the week

Here comes a Sunday list of my faves of the week!

Bellevue

&tradition has reinterpreted Arne Jacobsen's iconic lamp Bellevue and this is the result. The resdesign has been done with respect because nothing else than colours and material have been changed.

From royal wedding to Ellos

I think this is so cool. The Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt, who designed the royal wedding dress for Princess Sofia this year, is now doing a collaboration with Ellos. A bonus for Ellos is that Ida was recently named the designer of the year at Elle Decoration's award ceremony.

Ellos is just doing their marketing and branding right. The company has done a lot of cooperations lately, with artists, actresses and bloggers. But it is not until now I hear them through the buzz.

The collection is called La Vie en Rose and is available as of April. It will also include home accessories, which I am curious about.

Sweets

The Shrove Tuesday is approaching and according to the tradition in the Northern countries the traditional buns for the feast look like this. I chose this picture because I liked the styling. The golden cutlery, eucalyptus and powder sugar.

Words

One of my friends turned older the other day and posted this thoughtful text on Facebook, by the author Neil Gaiman. I wanted to share it with you, too, if it would give you the same encouraging feeling that I got!

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever."

Wooden owls by Architectmade

This time of the year a lot of new interior details are popping up in the stores and are showed in social and printed media, at interior fairs and on blogs. Therefore I am happy to exclusively and uniquely being able to present one of these newcomers in my home, namely the small wooden owl by Paul Anker Hansen for Architectmade (1960). This new size of the bird comes with their spring and summer collection for 2016. The bigger owl has now gotten cute companionship and I think they are such a perfect match and cool duo!

When I came home from work the other day and was so excessively tired, these two were staring back at me and I could nothing but smile. I had earlier turned their heads slightly to the side (their heads are attached with magnets) and they were kind of looking like "What's up? Something wrong"? :)

I decided to have these in different colours as I think they somehow appear better together when there is a small contrast between them. They are crafted in smoked oak and natural oak.

I could not resist showing the whole big happy wooden family also...If you have followed my blog you might know already that I am weak for wooden birds and I just came to think of that at which stage do you cross the line and note that you are a collector? The other birds I have had from before but they all have in common that they come from Architectmade.

I am so happy for finally having figured out how to use my new system camera... As you see I could not stop once started. I have moved the owls around everywhere and they have finally ended up on my bookshelf.

Always take the forest with you...

Spring and summer by Menu

While winter is raging here with loads of snow I am dreaming myself away with some garden and plant inspiration from Menu's spring and summer collection. I especially like the stand for climbing plants. How clever! It is of the same design as the POV candlestick that I blogged about here and later got for Christmas (and which has still not been nailed to my wall...) These stands I would really like to have for my summer flowers.

The garden chairs and black flower pots I also blogged about last summer but the pots now also seem to come in white. Note also the stylish watering can, which is brand-new!

Home tour in Stockholm

The best Sunday inspiration I found at The way we play. Here lives the PR specialist and blogger Louise Ljungberg. Such a cosy home with deep window recesses, plants and vintage details. The Everyday poster I spotted to be from here.

Read the Swedish small talk with Louise here.

New favourite

So delighted at my new lamp with the lampstand in brass. It is even more beautiful when turned on.

PS. Never mind the Christmas lights reflecting in the frame. I have removed them already. :-)

Faves of the week

Here comes a list of my faves this week!

Warm metals have been in for a while, and will continue to be. But a strong challenger 2016 is now cold metal. And immediately when someone whispers, that this is in again, I fall for the trend (easy victim). So refreshing with something new. I like the new Lily candlesticks, in silver shimmer, by Skultuna. I believe in a mix of cold and warm metals this year.

Fashion squad has updated her dining area with a mix of just fabulous Grand Prix chairs. On my everlasting wish list. In teak.

You know what? Creating a completely fresh Pinterest account from scratch has made me so eager to pin again, just like in the good old days when it was new.

The Snoopy lamp by Flos seems to be the new it lamp by the bloggers. Seventeendoors has written a funny blog post about how come all bloggers have exactly the same taste. All is copying all and how do the top bloggers stand all the copycats following? Always when they buy something new it becames outdated because soon everyone has bought the same.

Phew, feels kind of exhausting to be there on the hot spot. It is a big no-no if you happen to buy something that someone else has. I myself do not care, I always buy what I like, whoever blogger happens to have it. Otherwise I would loose my passion for interior.

My mantra for today by Lisa Strøander. (*Danish for "I'll do it tomorrow). After all it's Sunday!

Happy Sunday all!

New Pinterest account

This week everything has been back to normal again with work as usual after the long, relaxing holiday. My brain har slightly started up again and luckily it is Epiphany today as bonus so that we all get a smooth start with a bit of a shorter week. Another luck is that I do not need to go outside today. I was considering the gym but my phone is showing -27°C (!) and I do not think it is a good idea. At all. Winter has surprised us (not much snow, though) and I hate cold weather...

What I accomplished at the end of last year is something I have thought about a long time already. I created a new Pinterest account! Sadly enough I have 21,000 followers on my old account and this far only 1 on the new. :) I will of course keep my old powerful account alive as well but I would like to test with a new one as I am so f-e-d u-p with the follower counting mechanism not working on my old one. No matter how many users are following me (I can see them on the email) the number is stuck or freezed. It does not increase and has not done that for two years now. So unfair. So I will give it a try with a new account. Please just come and visit and follow me there as well, as it feels sooo lonely right now..:)

I would have liked to use my brand name Wisuella of course, but to distinguish the accounts and not cause confusion, I at least for the time being will call the new one Visual Stories. Maybe I will change it later on but for now I will try like this. You can find the link also in the side bar of my blog.

PS! Remember I will keep both accounts but I am more into the new one right now. It is somehow refreshing, with new year and all, to start afresh from scratch as the old boards are also starting to get quite full and it is also kind of fun to search for new inspiring people to follow so that I have a slight difference in the feeds depending on which account I use. Looking forward to see you there!

Happy pinning!

Merry everything and a happy always

The fragrance of the hyacinth and amaryllis is filling up the room on this very first day of the year. I like the new flower pots that I received this Christmas from my parents. The one in brass is from Svenskt Tenn and the other one in black is designed by the blogger and TV-profile Hanna Wessman.

Two thousand sixteen. I somehow feel that this year is going to be good. I feel confidence and trust that it will be so.

Merry everything and a happy always!
I wish you all a marvellous 2016!
