Monday faves

I did not plan to be away this much lately but there are some things going on in the background of the blog that is causing some extra efforts and headache right now. Maybe I will tell you more about it some day, if all goes well. :)

Now a little round-up of this Monday's favourites.

If you are not blogging about mustard-coloured items right now, you do not exist. I do not know how many interior blogs I have read lately that is lifting this colour, everyone at once. Do we see a slight entry or renaissance of colours in the colourless Scandinavian homes? I myself am a bit hesitant about this mustard-coloured shade in question but otherwise I do prefer colour dots in the home. Otherwise I think it gets too monochrome or dull.

As I am late on the ball now, pictures from this apartment has circulated all over the countries already, but here comes my contribution to the mustard-theme.:) This comfy looking Beetle chair. At the same time I was thinking about how many years haven't there been discussions about the lack of nice working chairs? Suddenly we just have the answer. Velvet chairs!

Amber might belong more to the colour palette of mine. This kitchen has been photographed by Lina Östling for the Residence magazine.

Mohv is selling an apartment styled with my favourite wooden chairs.

Broste Copenhagen is showing their Christmas news. Nostalgia for the pine cone decorations!

But before Christmas there is Halloween. Helena is making pumpkin decorations à la Svenskt Tenn with the découpage method and napkins. To me more suitable than all the ghosts!

Have a nice week!

August faves

Finally this holy moment when I can sit down and write on the blog! A few things have prevented me this week and also drained my energy but I make new efforts now!

It is Saturday and windy (actually a storm), grey and rainy and all musts have been completed for today so I look forward now to just be at home, gather my thoughts and pieces of inspiration and maybe later take a real reading evening! I have magazines, detective stories, design and interior books that I never seem to have time to dig into! Maybe now...

But first I am in the mood of making a list of what I have thought of and what have inspired me lately!

Ilse Crawford was recently appointed the desinger of the year at the big interior fair Maison et Objet in Paris. I find it so amusing and cool that this is the second time I have nominated the exact same persons before the big creators do it. Ilse was in my award list as the best designer of the year 2015 and also Emma von Brömssen, who I awarded as the best rising star of 2014, got the exact same title (coming rising star) in the Elle Decoration Swedish Design Award this year. Let's see if I can pick those right ones in advance next time as well. ;) I usually do these lists in December when the year has passed. I find it a bit strange that others do it in the beginning of the year or now, before all months have been taken into account?

One thing off topic. I really feel it is autumn now and I am afraid the leaves are falling in advance today when it is so stormy. Anyhow I am struggling to keep the summer feeling and hoping for an Indian summer. I love the look of this sommer house!

Lately I have noticed a new trend. Mirrors seems to be the new item nowadays to have among the frames on a picture wall, and also otherwise. Apart from fulfilling a function I notice this has become a real interior detail to count with. It is also rewarding in that sense that they make the rooms look bigger. I am thinking of how to find a mirror that I do not need to nail on the wall due to the electrical cabinet and cables behind my only hallway wall. This one by Broberg & Ridderstråle is expensive, but nice.

I am very curious about this lovely book by the blogger Bonjour Vintage! It is called Pretty please and contains recipes and home visits to a designer, ceramist, bloggers, instagrammers, hotels, restaurants... A lot of bloggers have written about this book already and it is already temporarily sold out!

New fragrance candles by Skultuna!

The blog picture that spoke to me this week was this one taken by Krickelin. She is featured in the latest Elle Decoration magazine, which I could not find yesterday. Sold out or late!

My own Friday bouquet looked like this. I also have a new cute wooden bird in my collection! :) This one comes from Architectmade.

With this I am wishing you a happy weekend!

Best picks lately

It is time again for the best picks of the week!

Mokkasin and a whole heap of other bloggers were recently providing such beautiful pictures from the new exhibition about Josef Frank at Millesgården in Stockholm. They were all binding summery flower bouquets while visiting the exhibition about pattern, furniture and paintings.

Such a pity it is a long way but those of you who are closer I think should definitely visit. I am also curious if there are some posters from the exhibition? Josef Frank is one of my favourite designers and I have collected a few things with his pattern from Svenskt Tenn already.

In the picture blogger Marie Serneholt, and all picture cred to the blogger Mokkasin.

I got so inspired so I ordered this new book, Josef Frank - de okända akvarellerna. Josef was, apart from his well-known textile patterns and furniture, also a wizard at painting with watercolours. He did not start until at the age of 68, which gives all us other stressed souls a tiny little hope!

This exhibition revelas a new side of the iconic Josef Frank designer that we have not seen before. Am I seeing a new picture trend coming? Flowery retro motifs in watercolours? Please Svenskt Tenn, more wall art and posters, in any style!

Jumping to another wall art!

The well-known and talented Swedish high jumper Emma Green is planning for a career after the athletics. She has been topical with a photo exhibition in Gothenburg and above is one of her pictures, Flätat, which is also sold in her newly started webshop. I am so much dreaming of the same. Taking photos and having them for sale online as pictures to frame.

My sister's daugther is graduating from high school the upcoming week and there is a lot of planning in the air by my family.

I noticed that Kay Bojesen has introduced graduate caps for the monkeys. I guess this combination will be a hit especially in Denmark for design loving graduates.

Last but not least, this week's picture wall.

While writing I am listening to this song by Veronica Maggio. It is a couple of months old already but it has a melody that get stuck!

Sun is shining again! Wishing you a good and lovely Sunday!

Best of the week

Here comes my favourites this week! Clicks and thoughts.

Event

This week I had the luck to be on a business trip in the same town and on the same day as the blogger Clara Lidström and Internet researcher Anna-Karin Nyberg were giving a lecture for bloggers regarding Digital Entrepreneurship. Such a good timing for once! I never attend any blog events and these are seldom created over here so I was happy to hear more about going from scratch to business. The blogger Linn Jung was an excellent moderator of the event with such a cool new haircut and, as Clara says, with a wonderful dialect.

Music

I listened to this song about world being in bloom.

Greenhouses

I was fascinated about Kristin Lagerqvists beautiful pictures again. This time the hot topic and dreams among bloggers seem to be greenhouses. A place for tomatoes, flowers, plants, decrations, books, berries and get togethers with dinners and music.

Royalties

As always when there are royal events ongoing I am interested in what everyone in the royal family wears. This time, on the King's 70th birthday, I think Princess Victoria won the style fight and was so stunning with a kind of break-the-rules dress. It is not very common with striped marine dresses in these connections, but I think it was really summery and beautiful, a happy choice and not so strict in the honour of the day. She also made a statement for durable and environmentally friendly fashion on the concert the day before, when she was wearing a special-sewn dress for this event from H&M's Conscious collection.

Flea finds

I read this week that the trend with flea market finds are over. Now it is expensive, rare objects from the auction houses that are in. Maybe this is a result of the bloggers try to be unique when there is a horde of readers copying and buying the same products all the time.

Phew, I get exhausted by all trend statements. My own rule is that you should buy all that is visually intresting and beautiful for you, no matter if it is common, high or low. Only in that way you stay happy and personal and have a unique style and mix. Trends are coming and going and it is not eco-friendly to change everything all the time according to what is in right now.

 Details

Beautiful new pink tray at Svenskt Tenn.

Mirror

I am longing for a golden mirror...

Dark walls

...admiring dark walls...

Art

...and wishing me a table easel.

 Clothes

Cereal has made beautiful pictures for Filippa K about garment care.

Summer details

H&M has launched some summery details.

Place

Are you afraid of heights? If so, look at this Pinterest picture. I discussed it with my Norwegian colleague this week and it is totally unbelievable to me how anyone can be doing this?

Flower vases

Have you also noticed that it sometimes can be hard to clean flower vases? Some covering remains and the glass is not crystal-clear anymore. I will try out if one of these tips help!

With this I am wishing you a splendid beginning of May month! The sun is shining here!

Faves of the week

I really felt like doing a list of my favourite clicks lately. So here it comes! Hope the pictures and tips cheer you up, too!

 Lamp

On my mind right now is whether to buy a PH5 lamp for my kitchen or not. I have seen them on campaigns in several stores right now so would be a good time indeed. Do you have some experiences of it? I am inspired by House of Philia and Aprill Aprill.

Place

This week Volang Linda gave a new blog tip again, EmmyLinnea, and the cosy picture of Copenhagen immediately caught my eyes.

Interior

I am curiously looking forward to the new The way we play magazine that was talked about on Instagram a few days ago. I can't wait to see if there are more nice rooms hidden in this stylish home! I like this picture and the details in it. The sofa with Josef Frank pattern, the candelabra, choice of flowers, picture wall... An interesting mix and atmosphere!

Ceramics

The ceramist Elin Lannsjö got the Elle Decoration Swedish Design Award this year for "coming rising star". Maybe you remember? Wisuella appointed her this title already 2014! :) (You can read about my award here.) I am also thinking how can Elin's allotment be this beautiful? Dying. Longing for an own garden...! Above some pictures of her latest ceramics!

Recipes

I got lost in beautifully styled food and sweets' recipes yesterday at Pinterest. More pinning those than doing them but anyhow great inspiration! :) Baked figs with rosemary & honey and cheese on sourdough as well as raw vegan bounty balls. Recipes by Cygnet Kitchen here and Dolcetti & Scherzetti here.

TV

Tomorrow there will be new episodes of the TV programme Vem bor här (Who lives here), led by Malin Olsson. A group of people are visiting each other's homes and the task for all viewers and themselves are to, at the end of the programme, match people + homes and guess who lives where. More difficult than you think!

Happy Sunday!

Faves of the week

I am enjoying the weekend today after having worked so much lately. Sun is shining nicely into my living room and Easter is approaching. That is my favouite feast! As always I fall into these blog decoration seasons too late and have not thought about what to create this year either, but one day when I was travelling I was absorbed in origami pictures around the web. Such amazing things you can make with just a little piece of paper. I noticed that you can make a lot of beautiful things to hang on sprigs inside, for example birds. I feel like blowing eggs and painting those and crack every second of them by mistake is not my cup of tea.

This is not origami as such but I thought it was a cute paper bird and quite easy to do if you like.

One of the blogs I am happy to follow is Karin Lindroos' blog. She always brings content that is personal, colourful and surprising = she does not post anything mainstream that you see everywhere. I also feel like going all in with colours on the sprigs this year. Let's see how it goes.

Due to the happy, shiny weahter my heart also melts for these kind of garden pictures of what is to come. The wish to have an own Panthella lamp grows even bigger when I see this beautiful lamp in the window. The outdoor lamp is a grey Toldbod lamp, also from Louis Poulsen.

I held these shoes in my hands yesterday. Quite nice. New ones from Odd Molly's summer collection.

Keep looking.

Happy weekend to you!

Faves of the week

This week is ending with Valentine's day. With a flower picture I am wishing you a happy and good day with your dear ones and also provide you with a mix of the faves that I have spotted this week.

I already blogged about Issey Miyake x Iittala but later on I stumbled across these nice pictures of the collection.

Ferm Living is turning 10 years. Happy birthday!

Ikea's new collection Tillfälle is now out in the stores. I am curious about the table and jar with graphic pattern, as well as the stool and wooden cupboard.

I think it looks so gorgeous with freeze-dried raspberries on cakes and pastries. Next time I will decorate any chocolate cake with these.

Carolina Gynning is blogging about an old comeback. Levi's 501. What do you think?

I saw the blogger Helena Lyth on TV this morning and she was doing very easy paper hearts. The hearts can for example be used on plates as decorations. Or why not on gifts?

In the same programme I saw 34-year old Rachel sing her Fight Song. I know it has been out there for a long time already but I like her message and that she is a living example of her own song, which was written long before her world success. The song has given hope to a lot of people around the world with various fights...And she has a beautiful voice!

...I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion...

That will be the new week's mantra. Happy Sunday!
