Wire series by Norm Architects

These pictures flashed by when opening the computer this morning. I totally adore them! The wire series is designed by Norm Architects.

The wire pots are for both outdoor and indoor use and the inspiration for these came when Kasper Rønn and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen visited a Japanese-inspired garden in L.A. I can just imagine how good the pots would look with flowers on the terrace or balcony, or inside with green plants or fresh flowers. Oil discs can be put on the bases, and voilá! they light up your garden.

Lotta Agaton's home

Odengatan 35, Stockholm

The Swedish interior stylist Lotta Agaton and her family are moving out from this beautiful home in Vasastan, Stockholm. I like the entire apartment and when it comes to the interior, especially much the cognac-coloured chairs and their colour combo with the green plants!

For sale here.

Pinspiration

One of my favoruite leisure-time activities has been to admire and pin beautiful pictures on Pinterest. It is a therapy, very relaxing and....time-consuming. A lot of hours can just pass by when deepening yourself in this world so a good "time-to-stop-when-plan" is good to have before settling down to explore this. Anyhow, if you have not joined that forum I guess you should. So much inspiration from any of your interest areas. See my pins here.

Christmas is dancing out

Many bloggers have thrown out Christmas already a long time ago and are speaking about spring. I must be the only one to still have the Christmas tree inside and that have not even had time to photograph it until now (I feel miserable about that). The time before Christmas is so hectic so I do not understand the rush to throw everything out after three holy days. On the Twentieth Day Knut the Christmas is dancing out by me. I will enjoy the rest of Ephiphany today and remove Christmas during the upcoming weekend. The winter evenings are very dark here so I  want to keep the lights for a while still.

Christmas tree decorations: White paper balls Iittala | White stars Lars Rank | Brown balls Anna Nygård design (talentedly recycled from Venetian blinds) | Copper decorations unknown | The paper star is made by my friend out of the Cole & Son wallpaper Woods

Winter days

Can you feel the cold in the pictures? I suffered a bit without mittens when photographing. Nature is so beautiful right now. And so unpredictable. Today it is -12 °C, tomorrow +1 °C. So I had to rush before the soft snow in the trees is gone.

Wisuella award 2014

A new year has just begun but before stepping ahead into that one I would still like to make a small wrap-up regarding what I have appreciated in the design world during 2014. I got the brilliant idea already last year, that I will summarize everything in a Wisuella award.

I have selected a few categories and nominated the candidates according to my own subjective preferences for who will receive the Wisuella award/design prize this year. (Sorry, the prize will only be my exclusive words)!

So here we go! Please also share your own thoughts; if you for example have some other favourites in the same categories that you would like to mention. Then we can all remember what was on the carpet during 2014. A small encyclopedia of the smartest and most memorable threads in the design history of that year.

1. Best comeback

The best comeback is without doubt the Bjørn Wiinblad collection. Everyone with bad luck on the flea markets can now have their own retro piece without any defects at all. The playfulness of the motifs makes the observer happy. A must-have!

2. Best package

The most beautiful chocolate package is provided by Fazer. The Magic Cube boxes are unfortunately only to be found in selected duty-free shops and at Stockmann.

3. Best rising star

We are so tired of the same motifs in the poster jungle, aren't we? This feels like a welcomed drop in the desert. I dare to claim that Emma von Brömssen is quite alone on the design heaven to come up with this idea. Picking hydrangeas, twigs and leaves from from her own garden and making a bird out of it. Brilliant. The poster is a photo of this work. Also the cushion has an interesting pattern. Definitely with the same interesting characteristic that seems to be Emma's style.

4. Best detail

The detail of the year is absolutely any candle by Skandinavisk. The graphical pattern alongside with a word that explains everything. So in to have a Fjord, Hav, Skov or København on the coffee table.

5. Best glass

The cut glasses for smoothies and coffee circulated around all social media channels like a wildfire.

6. Best trend

The most hyped trend was the one with marble. This picture shows marble-like items from H&M Home and Nordstjerne.

7. Best designer

As the Danish crown prince couple has awarded Cecilie Manz with the culture prize, I am not late to pick up. With a range of collaborations this year (see also number 8) she contributes to innovative, simple and elegant design in the Scandinavian homes. Pictures of the portable speaker A2 for B&O Play.

8. Best collaboration

The best collaborations this year were the ones done by Iittala. The designers Matti Klenell, Cecilie Manz and Magnus Pettersen provided new interior details beyond the tableware. Shelves, candlesticks and lamps!

A Happy Always!

Some table setting inspiration for New Year's Eve. All gold, brass or silver on the table alongside with grandma-inspired plates and cups! A happy mix of your flea market finds or inherited pottery go equally well as the luxurious ones from the store. Everything à la Nobel!

Happy New Year! May this new year bring a lot of happiness! I also want to thank you for making blogging this year so fun. Hope to see you around next year as well!

Cheers!

Giveaway | Kähler design

Right before Christmas Santa, or more exactly, Kähler Design offers you a nice giveaway to make your days brighter and your life merrier. We all need that during the dark season, right? These three Urbania candle houses can now be won by one lucky winner: the pantheon, church and city house. The white glazed ceramic houses are designed by Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker. They are perfect in size and so cosy!

If you want this whole little village of three candle houses to move into your home, all you have to do is to answer these questions:

1. What is your favourite city?
2. Where would you put the candle houses if you won?

Good luck! Lycka till!

The giveaway ends on Sunday 4th January 2015 11:59 p.m. EET. When the decision has been made the winner will be announced on the blog. The competition is open for everyone and yes, you can also answer in any Scandinavian language (except Icelandic ;). Christmas ornaments

The selection of Christmas tree decorations seems to have exploded the last few years. As soon as you have bought some really nice stuff, there are a lot of other equally nice stuff popping up everywhere else. Everybody seems to be doing decorations nowadays. Design brands, professionals, creative or and non-creative souls. All looking good. And if you are really following some kind of threads or styles in your decoration and do not throw everyhting in there in a glorious mess, you would at least need seven different trees to have place for everything. Phew! I have some boxes in my cupboard that do not go with this or that style and on top of that I am thinking of getting some more still. But more is more for once! Bring it on the bling-bling Christmas! Here you have some of my favourite selections from this year's supply. Did I forget anything?

Empire ornament | Brass heart | Wooden star | Colourful paper ornament | Silver-plated angel with lute | Butterfly | Christmas tree | Plume ornament

Last Christmas

Today is the day to take in my spruce. My brother-in-law has been kind to fetch one for me this year and I am eager to see what it looks like and decorate it. It is only a smaller one as I do not think there is so much space for any in full-size right now. Anyhow, the Christmas spirit is there and if only all gifts would be ready soon I am looking forward to just potter about in my home, bake and maybe try some Xmas DIYs this last week before the holidays. These pictures are from last year and my favourite decorations in the Christmas tree. I am sure they will find their place this year, too.

Psst. There is a really nice Danish design giveaway coming up soon on the blog. Stay tuned and do not miss it!

Second Advent

It is a real challenge to photograph in the evening dark, but I hope you anyway can see my new work of art, made by Ditte Gjøde?  I like the colours in it! So me! I found a light wooden frame that I thought matched the nuances in the best way.

Look through Ditte's whole beautiful gallery here. I thinks the Glimpse family is just awesome and I had a real hard time choosing. This one ended up as my favourite (it is number #5), but take a look also at the other ones that I selected to a previous collage here.

The rest of the evening I will spend in the TV-sofa (so worth it after all unneccessary Christmas stress..!) with cappuccino looking through the last two episodes of Revenge. Hope all is well! Happy new week!

December wishes

Wondering here what to wish for Christmas...
What is on your wish list?

I made collage with beautiful things that have caught my eyes lately. All my favourites, but especially the poster.

The strange thing by making collages is that you want the things even more than before making the collage...

Cut glasses for smoothies and coffee | Scent candle in blue | Candleholder for the wall | Brilliant boxes | Marble box | Take a breath poster
