On the menu

I wish I could order some inspiration and creativity from that menu!*
Because today I am just so tired...

A quick mood board with my new shoes as well as some colour + black and white inspiration.

I am thinking so much nowadays of what to start illustrating and how, but I never get it done.
Always something else on my mind. Hopefully soon!
Should I make more detailed illustrations or simply graphic ones?

The last picture illustrates that my spring holiday begins soon.
I saved my winter holiday for spring as it is much more fun to be outside then.
One week to go!

Good night fellows!

* something seems to have gone wrong with the menu writer's spelling...
we pretend we do not see it...

Blue porcelain

1-2-3-4

Today I am inspired by old tableware. When I first saw blue porcellain on the House of Philia blog in January I put my head on the side and thought... No, I do not like this. But how come? You see it for a while in the blogosphere and suddenly you find yourself looking for blue porcellain on the flea market. I would not buy any new pieces as I think this is at least for me a temporary fad, but a cake plate or something from the flea market would surely follow me home. This time I did not find the correct pattern, though, only other things in blue porcelain, that is, a plate from the Norwegian ceramist Kari Nyquist (see below) and... note to myself. Do not think too long. Of course someone else found the hiding-place under the other ugly plates and it was gone. Only afterwards I realized that this plate was made by a real known Norwegian ceramist.

If you like newer patterns, the plates for Arabia's 140th anniversary are a good choice, too. I only now realized that the "sun plate" that I also admired here, is now sold out. What a shame...

What are your opinions of old tableware? Do you also come to think of old memories, like grandma's plates with pattern? Blue, green and brown plates? I just picture them in a lilac arbour on a sunny summer day. I have to find a cake plate!

Now it is Sunday and I will be busy doing nothing. (Listen here. And...I thought that this song was much more modern than the other one that won). Which one do you like?

Have a nice Sunday!
What are your plans for the day?

Spring mood

My dreams have come true. It is spring in February! This is something extraordinary and has never happened before. So a really big change compared to some weeks ago when I wrote this blog post. So no snow anymore and the birds are singing. No one could be happier than me. You could mildly say that I dislike winter and freezing. I celebrate this with a new spring mood board. In black!

I really want that leaf decoration...

Danish treasure

Oh! It has been a while since a home inspired me this much. I think it is unique.
Absolutely my taste. So much small details to look at.
I like when it is like this. When you come home to someone and it takes time to
look around and be amazed about all small things.

What I like most?
First of all the lovely Danish teak chairs in the perfect brown nuance.
The mixed collection around the table with brown and black chairs of different shape.
The black Tom Dixon lamps.
The shelves with all kinds of small birds and colourful spines.
The cosy collection of vases. Danish, of course.
The great variety of wall art.
And do you see the black lamp with holes in it?
I would like to call and ask them, what in the world is this? It looks so nice!
I also like the magnetic, black, tidy noticeboard from the Oak Men
with all kinds of interesting cards.
The plant. How cool.
Even the cake is artistic with figs and pomegranates.

A perfect syled home. Real aesthetes.
Or I think it is not styled. It is done with the heart.
Here live Anders Norup, jewellery designer for Handcraftedcph, and Nina Lund.

All this I found via the lovely blog Boligcious and their recently published online magazine Boligcious Lookbook. Created by talented Malene and her staff.
Take a look here and get inspired you, too! I will be on the lookout for their next issue!

All pictures published with permission from Boligcious.
Thanks a lot!

The sun always shines on TV

Oh yes. It is so easy to live here and now when it is -20 °C outside. I really try to not dream ahead to the spring and world of tulips... Where there are no tights and no static electricity in your hair and everybody is happy and strolling around at an easy pace, enjoying the weather. Because now the streets are quite empty. Sigh...The year's coldest months are here. The only one that is outside now, is the weather itself. So we leave you alone weather; have fun out there. We do not need you. We can be inside instead (and look at the sun through the windows). So let's escape reality to the world of pictures...

Tulips and vases / Encouraging words/ Glitter and glamour / Menu candleholder

The more I see Menu's wall candleholder, the more I like it. But it requires its space. So you do not run into it. With your electrostatic hair.

And psst... talking about the weather. A trip to memory lane, here, where I did not care about any wall candleholders, but posters of Mr Harket. Sweet days.

Have a nice Sunday! Is it warmer at your place?

Joanna and personality

The interior architect and designer Joanna Laajisto's home has circulated around the blogosphere this week. Usually I am allergic to posting things that is everywhere but the photos that I liked most this time were usually not shared by the bloggers. So here they come!

You see the black wall lamp? It is her own design. Called Edit.

I liked her expression that she willingly helps with interior planning (bathroom, kitchen and storage), but that the decoration must be done by the inhabitants themselves.

So true. Personality. You cannot buy personality.

And the Aalto stool never disappoints. So simple and with so many different faces. But always right.

The cushion. It is nice. Vintage-style.

I cannot say anything about the inside. But I have always liked the magazine covers of Kinfolk.
I would love to have them on my sofa table!
Artistic enough!

Wish you a happy weekend!

With flowers in my hair...

Once in a lifetime fynd!

Annars väldigt i spring mood just nu. Ingen snö och så får det gärna förbli.

I am still so crazy about these lamps that were shown in Plaza Interiör 9/2013. Hanna Wessman has styled the newly produced apartment in Stockholm with beautful textiles, design, vintage finds and...these lamps. Looks a little like the Dagg vase. Just that it hangs from the ceiling instead...I hope she did not leave the lamps in the apartment. A once in a lifetime finding!

Otherwise I am so in spring mood right now. No snow and hope it remains like that.

Modern cross-stitches

Oh, I like these. Cross-stitches go 2000. Reminds me of those embroideries by grandma. Gry Fager livens up an old tradition with these stylish pieces. So typical of the 21st century. Why would we sew when we can make the same on the computer?

See more here.

It is something about...

...Svenskt Tenn. Love the pattern in the black cushions above. Reminds me of that I have the same textile in my cupboard and need to create a pillow of it as soon as the Christmas holidays are here...

Otherwise thinking too much about wall art right now. I have such difficulties to hang something on my newly painted, fresh, white walls... All those holes if you regret or change your mind... Leaning is one idea, but that also takes some space from the sideboard.

Anyway, have a cosy Sunday!

Cosy Christmas

I started the morning by reading a fashion magazine and the horoscope said:

The Christmas will be nice and cosy in a homelike way. You concentrate on being together rather than on a huge amount of presents.

I left out "...a table loaded with Christmas food and drink" as it sounded so boring to be without that.

No, I do not trust horoscopes but if they are nice I do. The food and get-together emphasis sound nice. And I am sure it will be special and very enjoyable and homelike during Christmas. All things after the moving are soon in place and I can just curl up with warm socks in the sofa, eat peanuts and marmelade and burn candles.

But anyway. Wish lists need to be done. I do not have a clue right now. But here is at least one version. It might change still...Enjoy!

Weekend mood

In the mood for mood boards.
Here comes my inspiration for this weekend.
I am cleaning (phew), thinking about lamps,
decorating with lemons, as well as enjoying the free days
 (exercise and fresh air)...

All that inspires me this autumn. Jeans, dark colours and streaks of gold.
And always in the mood for pink.

Retro details

I like this kitchen with the happy retro details. Once again I am reminded of what a design treasury Finland is when it comes to kitchen details and tableware. The old Hackman saucepan with vegetables and Arabia bowl with mushrooms are rarities and quite costly at the flea markets today, but brand new saucepan look-alikes are also produced if you want to copy the feeling (see here). Quite near the original ones by Esteri Tomula. Also the kitchen towels in retro style are quite easy to find nowadays.

Quite funny also that the upper row of cupboards is old, whereas the lower row is modern. Yes, why not mix everything? Just dare to!
